The August 18 Primary narrowed the field and set the stage for the November 3 General Election. In the statewide races, Byron Donalds won the Republican nomination for Governor and will face David Jolly, the Democratic nominee, along with several other qualified candidates on the November ballot.

In the U.S. Senate race, Ashley Moody advanced as the Republican nominee and Angie Nixon as the Democratic nominee, with an additional qualified no-party-affiliation candidate also appearing on the ballot.

Locally, Cape Coral’s nonpartisan primary reduced the Mayor’s race to Lisa Cohen-Adkinson and Rick Erickson.

The City Council contests also moved to two-candidate General Election races: Dave Newton vs. Tom Shadrach in District 1, Jennifer Nelson Lastra vs. James Vargas in District 4, and Liza King vs. Annette Warren in District 6.

With the primary now behind us, voters can focus on these final matchups as they prepare for the November 3 General Election.

NWNA Candidate Issue Coverage

As part of NWNA’s effort to help Northwest Cape residents become better informed before the 2026 General Election, we reviewed publicly available information and candidate positions across a consistent set of issues important to our community.

The cards below summarize each candidate’s issue coverage in three categories: Detailed or Direct Support, General Alignment, and Unaddressed. They also identify documented strengths and highlight areas where NWNA believes additional questions or clarification would be helpful.

These cards are designed to help residents compare how thoroughly candidates have addressed issues affecting Northwest Cape, including infrastructure, utilities, waterways, responsible growth, public safety, fiscal stewardship, transparency, and resident engagement.

Important: These assessments measure the amount and specificity of information NWNA was able to identify on each issue. They are not candidate rankings, polling results, measures of voter support, or endorsements by NWNA.

As candidates provide additional information or participate in NWNA interviews, their issue coverage may be updated.
